Build Your Own Pool 1

Your own pool is a really cool thing. But to build your own pool is an expensive and not so easy task. But imagine you come home from work, you are stressed out and you are hot. Then you go to your own swimming pool, jump into the water and everything is fine again. Maybe you wouldn’t go to a lake or to the sea to relax and swim a bit after work. A lake or the sea is great. But most of us have a long way to the next lake or the sea. There you lay around and try to kill  time one way or the other. And after you arrive at home you may feel like instantly jump into the water again or build your own pool. And this is what I thought some years ago:

Build your own pool!

I went from distributor to distributor and got information from them. I asked people I know had their own pool how to build your own pool. I asked master builders what to consider when you want to build your own pool. And after I had my pool, I saw what I should have thought over before. After some improvements and rectifications and experiences I made I am very pleased and happy with my own pool. Many friends and relatives also wanted to build their own pool and of course I helped them. So I got to know the most different systems. I learned what can go wrong when building various types of pools and how to maintain them to enjoy your own pool for many years. To build your own pool you have to think over some prerequisites depending on where you live. Then, if you want to build your own pool, you have to decide if you want to have an above ground pool or an in-ground pool. And this is where it really starts:

Things To Know About Above Ground Swimming Pools

Next Page - Build your own in-ground pool step by step

To build your own pool is very popular these days, as swimming pools are an awesome acquirement for your home, your family and yourself. If you happen to live in a hot area of the world, a swimming pool is a great way to enjoy a sunny summers day while your neighbors are hiding in an air conditioned room. You can teach your children how to swim or invite some friends and have a party. An in-ground pool is the first choice for many people, but an above ground pool also has its advantages.

There are three main reasons, why above ground pools are very popular:

  • above ground pools are save
  • above ground pools are easy to install
  • above ground pools are easy to maintain

No matter which type of pool you are about to choose, you have to maintain it. You have to clean it on a regular basis and keep debris out of the pool. And you have to ensure, that the chemicals in your pool water are well balanced. As the edge of an above ground pool is not even with the ground, debris can not get easily into it and all sorts of animals as cats, dogs or mice can’t easily fall into it.

When it comes to safety, an above ground pool is much safer than an in-ground pool, as children cannot easily fall into the pool. With an above ground pool children have to climb a ladder to get into the pool and thus cannot stumble and fall into it. So if you have young children at home, an above ground pool provides a higher level of security.

If you want to build your own pool, an above ground pool is much easier to install. You can do it all by yourself in about on to three hours, depending on the type of your pool. You may want to get the help of a professional with the installation of the pump and the plumbing but if you’re not very clumsy, you shouldn’t need to hire one. With above ground pools there is no need to dig a deep hole.  All you need to do is to even out a place in your yard and set the pool up.

There is another advantage with above ground pools. Compared to in-ground pools above ground pools are quite cheap and the way to go, if you don’t want to spend much money. There are several types and sizes to choose from. The cheapest above ground pools cost just a few hundred dollars. Even if you want to have a larger pool, above ground pools are affordable. So you and your family can enjoy the summer with your own pool even when you are on a tight budget.

If you want to build your own pool, an above ground pool is the most affordable option. There is not much maintenance involved with above ground pools and you have an additional level of security. And an above ground pool is up and running in no time and you can quickly enjoy the amenities of your own pool.

Build Your Own Pool: Swimming Pool Heaters

Next Page - Build your own in-ground pool step by step

If you want to build your own pool and use it before anyone else in the year and if you want to extend your swimming season after the summer has gone, you have to install a swimming pool heater. Especially at cold days a heater is a great thing to have. If you are thinking of getting a swimming pool heater, there are a lot of interesting things to know about.

Swimming pool vendors recommend a temperature of around 25 degrees Celsius. This is around 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Most people prefer to have it a little bit warmer. It’s up to you and if you are using a pool heater, you can adjust the temperature of the water in your pool to nearly any level you like.

There is only a short period of time in the year, where the sun can heat the pool to this level. If you want to have it comfortable when the swimming pool period starts or ends, a swimming pool heater can help you. If you live in warmer areas of the world, you may be able to swim in your pool the whole year round. If you live in the north, you may be able to double your swimming pool season.

There are some different types of heaters for you to choose from. Some run off electricity. Heating your pool with an electric heater can be quite expensive, but it is the least troublesome to maintain. Oil heaters are another type of swimming pool heaters. They are commonly used in areas where you can’t buy gas fired heaters. Those types of heaters are the most widely used, because they are the least expansive.

Another type of swimming pool heaters are solar heaters. Solar heaters use the sun to heat the pool, thus save money and seem to be the best solution. But actually there are some disadvantages. First, you will notice that they are very expensive. Then they need the sun to work properly. In the summer, there is hardly a problem with the sun. But a heater is nearly never used in the summer. But you do use a heater in the early spring and in the autumn. Especially in the autumn it can get foggy in many places. And if there is dense fog until noon, the solar heater will not work as expected. So if you want to swim in the afternoon when the sun is out, you may notice, that the temperature of the water is not as you desire. After all, a swimming pool heater needs some time to heat the water. It depends on your location, if a solar swimming pool heater can be usefull.

Last but not least, there is another option. Even though you choose not to install a swimming pool heater, there is a way to extend the swimming season. A swimming pool cover is definitely a good thing to have. Additionally to the many other advantages, if you use a swimming pool cover, the water will not cool down as quickly as it would without a cover. And there are covers made of a special material especially for the purpose of serving as a solar swimming pool heater with a high degree of insulation.

If you are up to build your own pool and want to extend your swimming season, a swimming pool heater is the way to go. Gas heaters are the most cost efficient and they are reliable and user friendly. They are the most common used heaters and even if you are not very comfortable with technical things, you won’t have any trouble using them.

Some Tips For Choosing A Swimming Pool Cover

If you intend to build your own swimming pool and make your own swimming pool part of your property, a pool cover is a vital thing to have. You can get swimming pool covers in a wide range of different shapes, sizes and even different colors serving any purpose. You can even find instructions to make your own pool cover, but this is definitely a bad idea. Swimming pool covers of good quality don’t cost too much and they serve many important purposes.

If you want to heat your pool, you can get a solar cover. This will also protect your pool. If you have little children or for some other reason you have a strong desire for safety, you can choose a safety cover. Those covers will cover your pool tightly and most of these are strong enough, to tread on it without danger. For any type of pool and any purpose you can get the right cover, no matter if your pool happens to be an in-ground or an above ground pool.

But you should be aware of some points, when you look for covers for swimming pools. Your new cover should be strong enough to withstand the roughest possible weather at your location. The cover should keep dirt out of your pool and it should be strong enough for some incautious people stepping on it. You certainly don’t want an accident to happen – especially in the winter, when the cover itself is covered with snow.

Especially when buying your cover from a supplier in another country, you should make sure, if it complies your local regulations – if there are any. It is possible that you have to have a cover of a certain size or type. You can ask for it at your municipal administration or the local police force. Of course, check before you buy as there might be an issue with the return policy.

In this context you should also clarify the conditions of the warranty. Most swimming pool covers include a warranty of 2 years or more. The laws in your country may modify the time of warranty. You should check, that the warranty of the cover you are about to buy covers all types of defects. There might be a clause which says that the warranty does not hold, when you use the cover in a country, where it is not sold.

Your cover should have a good overlap length. Your swimming pool cover should be a little bit larger than the dimensions of your swimming pool. This way you have plenty of room to fixate your cover. If you intend to build your own pool of concrete in an unusual shape, you should double check, if the pool cover is of the right size. Maybe your pool supplier will allow you to test it before you buy.

You should also make sure, that the swimming pool cover you intend to buy includes everything you need. Depending on the type of the cover there should be either straps or anchors included. The last thing you want is to buy a swimming pool cover that is missing some important parts you have to cumbersomely search for afterwards.

If you intend to build your own swimming pool a pool cover is an important swimming pool part. You should not try to make your own pool cover, as it should be good material processed with knowledge to get the best possible quality. If you buy a good pool cover, it should last several years. It helps you keep your swimming pool clean and safe and thus helps you to take much pleasure in your own swimming pool.

Sundry About Swimming Pools

If you live in an industrialized country in the warmer areas of the world, you will have noticed, that to build your own pool is very trendy. They make you and your family enjoy your spare time and provide plenty of entertainment.

If you want to build your own pool, you basically have two options: above ground pools or in-ground pools. Those types are quite different, but both provide lots of fun and amenities to many people all over the world.

Above ground swimming pools are quite cheap and cost between $200 and $10.000. Above ground pools are easy to build. Provided you have a planar yard, you can have an above ground pool up and running in a few hours. You can build it all alone if you don’t have a helping hand, even the hookup of the filter and the pump is quite easy.

In-ground pools are much more expensive. The prices of typical in-ground pools range from $20.000 to $60.000 depending on the type of pool, the material, the design and the way you build your own pool. The prize of a pool can be much higher, if you want a custom tailored pool made of concrete. You can use pool plaster of different colors and build your own pool exactly to your liking.

There is a plethora of accessories for your pool. Very common are hydro flow systems and swimming pool heaters. The type of the hydro flow system depends on the size of your pool. Also bear in mind, that not every shape of a swimming pool is suitable for a hydro flow system or swimming in general.  The best shape for swimming and using a hydro flow system is a rectangle.

If you want to build your own pool, you may also consider a swimming pool heater. There are electrical heaters, gas heaters and solar heaters. While the choice between an electrical heater or a gas heater first and foremost is a matter of taste, you should make sure that the pool, or the solar heater unit, is placed in the sun if you intend to use a solar heater. The heater unit has to receive a lot of sun. If the pool is placed in a location, where there is not much sun in early spring or late autumn, a solar heater does not make much sense.

Most people want a pool to have a quick dip in the water during the hottest time of the year. But there are many other advantages and benefits. If you are working out regularly, swimming can be a great addition to your training schedule. A pool is awesome, if you come back from jogging and want to relax your muscles. A pool can be beneficial to you, if you happen to have problems with your neck.

Once you have built your own pool, everything is installed and working, there are some running costs, depending on the type of swimming pool you have built. Costs thereby incurred are energy consumption costs for the pump, automatic measurement equipment, electrical pool heater, lighting and so on. Even if you have a salt water pool, you will need some chemicals to clean the pool and to keep the ph – value balanced.. Otherwise you need chemicals to kill germs. There are quite a few different chemicals for you to use to kill germs including chlorine, active oxygen or biguanide. The costs vary, but it adds up during summer.

Swimming pools are great. If you build your own pool, you and your family will have fun with it for years to come. You don’t have to go to the overcrowded public swimming pools and deal with long lines anymore. You can enjoy an enhancement in quality of your live and you will never regret your idea to build your own pool.

Build Your Own Pool: Buying A Swimming Pool Kit

If you want to build your own pool you have many options. If you want to have a tailor-made swimming pool and if you want to have control over every detail you have to go the concrete and plaster pool way. This is a lot of work and there are thousands of possible ways for you to slip up. So you may consider buying a swimming pool kit.

Even when buying a swimming pool kit you have many possibilities. First you have to decide between an above ground pool and an in-ground pool. Each one has his pros and cons and each one makes people happy. Of course there are differences you should be aware of.

One important difference is the shape of the swimming pool. Swimming pool kits for above ground pools are circular or oval only. There are no serious rectangular above ground swimming pool kits. In-ground pools offer more variations. In-ground pools come in circular, oval, rectangular or kidney shapes. With some types of pools you may have even more variations to choose from. If you like to swim or someone in your family likes to swim a lot you will have to choose a shape that supports this. The shape of a swimming pool kit that supports swimming best is a rectangle. You can also opt for an oval shape if there are not many people using the swimming pool at the same time.

If size matters to you – if you want to swim or if you have a large family – you will have to choose an in-ground pool. Above ground pools are much smaller than in-ground pools. In-ground pools can be  much bigger because the surrounding ground helps to hold back the water. Above ground pools are not very robust so that you are more limited in what you can do in your swimming pool.

This is also the reason you should choose an in-ground pool if you like to dive. If you browse youtube you will see many videos where someone is jumping into an above ground pool and the pool breaks. You also will have to be creative, if you try to use a diving board with your above ground pool. Most above ground pools are not deeper than 1,5 meter which is not a good diving hight.

The time you need to build your own pool differs widely between an in-ground pool and an above ground pool. Normally you can install an above ground pool within a few hours. It is possible for you to do it alone although you will appreciate a helping hand. In-ground pools take several days to build. You will need an excavator and depending on the type of pool eventually a crane. And you will need professionals to operate the machinery.

Finally you should be aware of that an in-ground pool is much more expensive than an above ground pool. In addition to the swimming pool kit itself you will have to spend a lot of money on the machinery to dig the hole in your backyard and the professionals operating them. Even if you choose an above ground pool you may have to do some earth moving because the ground has to be planar. But this can be done with a shovel in most cases.

The final choice depends on what you want to do with your pool. If you want to swim laps or dive you need a lot of space and a deep pool and an in-ground pool is your best choice. If you want to have a small pool for a quick dip in the water for yourself and your children, an above ground pool will suffice. So it comes down to what you hope to get from your own pool and what works best for you. Now you know what to consider to choose the right swimming pool kit.
